  • Fire at KPLS!

Te radio station, KPLS 1510 AM, broadcasts my health program " Journey To A Full Life". If this program has been helpful to you and you'd like to continue listening to it, please help KPLS. A severe thunderstorm passed through the Denver area on the evening of June 28, causing a power outage at KPLS. The utility company arrived the following day to make repairs, but when power was restored to our building, there was a loud bang and sizzling sound. Our surge suppressor failed and caught fire, igniting the back inner wall of the transmitter building. The flames quickly spread to the attic. Thankfully, KPLS chief engineer Richard Andersen was on site and immediately called the fire department, who arrived within 10 minutes and extinguished the fire. Currently, KPLS is using a back-up transmitter and an emergency power generator that we have rented for a month. The building constructor and electrician are working to address the wiring issues caused by the fire. We hope to be back on air by Tuesday or Wednesday, pending the arrival of the generator and ensuring compatibility with the transmitter. Unfortunately, this incident is not covered by insurance. We appreciate your prayers and financial support during this challenging time. To help financially, please visit KPLS.org or RADIO74. net

  • MISSION DENVER

Dear friend, MISSION DENVER is a plan to bring the Everlasting Gospel to Denver, Colorado, using a strong 24 hour a day radio station. RADIO 74 INTERNATIONALE senses God leading us reach this vast sprawl of 3 million people, to finish the gospel commission here. On Friday we learned of a powerful, 10,000 watt AM radio station for sale for 1/3 of its market value. I’m asking you to help us buy it. People of the world with lots of money are plotting to buy it. The first serious offer of $675,000 cash will get it. Present owners bought it 10 years ago for $1.6 million and its well worth that amount. More information attached. For details, please phone or text me: +1 269 903 8701 God bless you, your prayers and your support! All glory to God! Ron Myers ron@radio74.org www.radio74.net

  • SOS - MISSION SWITZERLAND - SOS

SOS - MISSION SWITZERLAND - SOS Our contract to broadcast in Switzerland will be cancelled if transmission fees are not paid by Monday, October 29th. We’re send out an SOS! RADIO 74‘s financial situation is especially alarming this week. We lack $12,000 of the 17,000 needed to pay our4th quarter Swiss DAB+ transmission fees. On October 1st, we were granted a one month reprieve. But since then, local listeners have donated less than 1/3 of what’s needed. If we can’t pay by the final deadline of Monday, October 29th, we are threatened with losing our Swiss radio broadcasting contract, with no hope of ever regaining it. Please pray with us for God to intervene. And if He’s speaking to your heart to give, thank you for not resisting too much! Feel free to pass on this information to everyone concerned. When God opened a very wide door to MISSION SWITZERLAND four years ago, RADIO 74 became the first radio station of a religious character ever authorized to broadcast on Swiss soil. The Lord gave us the two largest cities, Zurich and Geneva. Later, Lausanne and Sion were added, and we’ve been promised coverage of Neuchatel, Yverdon and Friburg in the near future. By God’s grace we hope to eventually reach the entire country. What a golden opportunity and privilege to provide Gospel radio programming 24/7, potentially reaching 42% of the Swiss people! St. Peter’s Cathedral, Geneva, Switzerland is in rapid transition from AM/FM radio broadcasting to DAB+. More than 4 million DAB+ radio receivers have already been sold. OFCOM (the Swiss Office of Communications) is set to deactivate all remaining FM radio transmitters in Switzerland by end of 2024, leaving DAB+ as the only remaining radio broadcasting standard. Broadcasting in DAB+ is giving us unprecedented opportunity! But it has added $70,000 per year to the already tight RADIO 74 austerity budget of $250,000. And because RADIO 74 is based in France, it doesn’t qualify to receive State funds that all Swiss based radio stations are entitled to, a subsidy of up to 80% of their DAB+ transmission costs. We are diligently working to obtain this status. RADIO 74 currently faces two challenges: 1) creating appropriate radio programming in French and German. 2) finding adequate, reliable, ongoing funding to maintain this growing ministry. Again, thanks for your prayers and financial support. May God bless as, together, we seek to bring Present Truth and Hope to the wonderful people of Switzerland, seeking to conclude the work begun here by J.N. Andrews in 1874, in anticipation of Jesus soon return. • MISSION SWITZERLAND So rich, yet so poor “in spirit”. “The door has opened for broadcasting the gosp

Switzerland, a magnificently beautiful country, nestled in the Alps of central Europe, is a modern nation built over centuries amidst snow capped mountains, pristine lakes, rich vegetation and animal life. Its people are well educated, hardworking, and wealthy, but many have lost touch with God. Switzerland ranks among the world’s richest nations. And the cost of living is high. Geneva currently ranks 7th in the world, and Zurich is 3rd. Switzerland has the highest concentration of millionaires on Earth estimated at 716,000. One Swiss person in 11 is a millionaire. By comparison, the US has the most millionaires of any country (13.5 million), that’s one millionaire for every 24 Americans. So Switzerland has over twice the millionaires per capita as does the US. People so rich, yet so poor in spirit! Geneva, Switzerland, was the cradle of the Reformation 500 years ago. Among giants of Biblical truth such as Martin Luther of Germany, were Jean Calvin, a French immigrant to Geneva, and Ulrich Zwingli of Zurich, who set Europe ablaze with the authentic gospel message of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Though 68% of the Swiss profess to be Christian (38% Catholic, 31% Protestant), most people no longer attend church. Particularly the young are turning away from God. Most university professors and students are atheists and evolutionists. The population of Switzerland is 8.5 million, yet there are only 54 local SDA congregations divided into the three main national languages, German, French and Italian. J.N. Andrews arrived in Switzerland as the first Adventist missionary to Europe in 1874. Since then, church growth has gone painfully slow. After 143 years of presence, today there are only 4,704 baptized members in Switzerland. That’s an infinitesimal 0.06 % of the population. In other words, the Evangelization of Switzerland has barely started. There’s only one Adventist school in Switzerland, a primary school at Zurich, and only one medical institution, a hospital at Gland, adjacent to Lake Leman, between Geneva and Lausanne. In fact, Continental Europe has among the lowest concentration of Adventists of any continent in the world… only about 180,000 members for a population of 340 million, that’s about one Adventist for every 1,890 people. By comparison, in the North American Division, with a population of 360 million, church membership is 1 million 230 thousand. That’s a ratio of one Adventist per 294 people, over six times greater than Switzerland. Except for a handful of countries where Adventists have not yet entered, the Adventist presence in Switzerland is almost invisible. There are reasons why the Church has not grown in the old world. Among them are the obstacles of making contact with the people. Yes, faithful members are doing what they can to reach out to family, neighbors and acquaintances. But in most Swiss towns and cities, it’s illegal to distribute literature on the streets without a difficult-to-obtain permit. Most people live behind locked doors in apartments where one can’t get ready access through security systems. Mass mailing of Christian literature is frowned on. And there are no Christian TV stations. Neither commercial nor state-owned radio or TV broadcasters sell time for religious programming. And the web is having only minimal impact. Jesus said, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” But he didn’t say it was impossible for a rich man to be saved. “Things that are impossible with people are possible with God” (Luke 18:26-27). But Jesus cannot return until everyone has heard the gospel, including the rich, though spiritually poor people of Europe. God has not abandoned Switzerland. Doors are opening. Now is the time to advance. Unexpectedly, Swiss rules changed a few years ago allowing private religious radio broadcasting for the first time. Among the first networks approved was RADIO 74. At about the same time, an Italian based Catholic Network was authorized, Radio Maria. And a few other evangelical stations have since been authorized. Can you imagine it! Switzerland... where J.N. Andrews first began his work in 1874! Now RADIO 74 has been authorized to broadcast around the clock, helping to finish the work Andrews and his children struggled to begin 143 years ago! RADIO 74 began broadcasting in Zurich and Geneva 24 hours a day just under three years ago. Transmissions expanded to Lausanne and Sion a year later, and are set to begin in Freiburg, Neuchatel and Yverdon in coming weeks. If we had the funds we could cover the entire country of Switzerland, estimated to cost under $200,000 per year. Understand that Switzerland does not permit private stations to operate their own transmitters. Air Time is leased from a private, not-for-profit corporation which owns the transmitting rights and which assures high quality technical services at rates cheaper than we could do it ourselves. And like many countries in Europe, Switzerland is committed to transitioning to Digital Audio Broadcasting or DAB+. DAB+ is a new kind of radio that probably will never be authorized in America. It works like Digital Television which can transmit several programs on the same channel at the same time. Up to 14 high quality digital stereo radio programs can be transmitted on each DAB+ bouquet, keeping costs well below FM broadcasting. Switzerland has already phased out AM radio broadcasting, and plans to make FM obsolete by 2024. So DAB+ is the wave of the future. RADIO 74 was blessed to get in on the ground floor so it can grow with the new technology. DAB+ transmission costs are quite inexpensive, about $10,000 per city per year. Eventually, RADIO 74 expects local listeners will donate to pay the costs of transmission in each city we serve. But getting off the ground has been a formidable challenge. Donations in Switzerland are not yet strong enough to cover these expansion costs. We are confident things will improve as our coverage area expands. But, meanwhile, we are really struggling to make ends meet, and to pay the quarterly payments of around $15,000. So we are asking our friends in North America, and anywhere in the world you’re reading this or listening on the web, to help us evangelize Switzerland. RADIO 74 Switzerland is currently running about one year behind in its DAB+ payments. It’s a real miracle that the contract hasn’t already been cancelled and transmissions cut off. If that were to happen, this opportunity would be gone forever. To avoid disaster, we have to act decisively. May I ask you to make a donation today for RADIO 74 Switzerland? If you do not need a tax deductible receipt, then please make your donation on line at our European website: www.radio74.org Please note that all donations to RADIO 74 Switzerland are channeled through RADIO 74 France, which produces all RADIO 74 programming for both Europe and North America. If you would like a US income tax deductible receipt, then please make your donation on line at www.radio74.net Mention your donation is for RADIO 74 Switzerland. You can call RADIO 74 for more information, week-days from 8 am to 5 pm Pacific Time: 760 375 2355 The mainly volunteer teams of RADIO 74 Switzerland, France and America thank you! God bless you as together, by God’s grace and provision, we seek to finish the gospel commission, even in the wealthiest of countries like Switzerland.

  • Brinksmanship with the Devil

The word “brinksmanship” was coined during the cold war between the US and Russia. Brinkmanship is the ostensible escalation of threats to achieve one's aims. It’s when two sides in a dispute continually up the ante, pushing the other to the brink. Eventually, one party is pushed over into the abyss, or else both are mutually destroyed. An example was the Cuban Missile Crisis when the opposing leaders, John F. Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev, continually issued warnings, with increasing intensity, about impending nuclear exchanges. Eventually the Soviet Socialists backed down and the world was spared nuclear annihilation. The ultimate standoff of brinkmanship happened at the cross when, in his rebellion against God, Lucifer pressed Jesus Christ to the brink. When Jesus died, Satan appeared to have won his sinister game of force. But then came Sunday morning when Jesus rose from the dead to everlasting life, yielding the knockout blow to the Enemy, while winning total victory for us sinful mortals and peace for the entire universe. Why am I in my 9th consecutive day of fasting and praying for MISSION ALASKA, joined by others who are fasting certain days? RADIO 74 finds itself caught in the crosshairs of a deadly game of brinkmanship conspired by the Evil One who is shooting to kill this significant advance of the gospel in Alaska. Our only hope is God’s mercy and power to save. If God doesn’t move, this project is doomed. But we are encouraged. God IS moving! Donations are arriving each day, and by God’s grace this radio station will get built despite serious threats to stop it cold. By accepting God’s call to build a major AM radio station to reach the lost souls of Alaska we stepped on the Enemy’s toes. He can’t help but notice we’re invading territory he claims is his. We anticipated obstacles, but we hadn’t expected war. This radio station should have, could have, and would have been built and already on the air, except the Enemy slashed our tires and slipped a monkey wrench in the spokes. That monster is bearing down on us, threatening to crash everything, and has pitted sides in a deadly game of brinkmanship. In retrospect, I’m wondering now if that freak car crash in South Dakota which might have snuffed out my life three years ago wasn’t related to MISSION ALASKA. Just months earlier we’d won the FCC auction to acquire this excellent radio frequency. The following January the FCC finally granted the three year construction permit, and we’d been gearing up to build the station in 2015-16. But in between time came not one, but two serious car accidents. Long recuperation stunted progress on the Alaska radio project for two years. Then, only this past December, did we first learn we would have to purchase the land for the antenna. We had understood we could use or rent it at low cost. We’ve swallowed that pill and forgiven, but raising so much money so fast is a formidable challenge. When confronted by the Devil, our only hope is Jesus. When dealing with the deep, dark, spooky, satanic supernatural, victory comes only from The Master, who conquered Satan, hands down, at Calvary. The ultimate weapon is the powerful name of Jesus. That’s why we are fasting as well as praying. Remember Jesus’ instruction to the disciples who failed to cast out particularly stubborn demons from a disturbed child? “Because of your unbelief…howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:20-21. To those who are fasting and praying with me, be strong and of good courage! “…be strong in the Lord, and in the power of HIS might.” Ephesians 6:10 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”1 Corinthians 10:13 Take very good care of yourself. Don’t overdo a good thing. Be moderate. Break the fast as needed to keep up your strength and remain in good health. But as for me, this period of fasting and prayer is life or death. I’m expendable. The gospel is not. It must advance at all cost. Jesus must increase while I must decrease. As in any war, some soldiers pay the ultimate price to bring peace for the survivors. If I must perish so that MISSION ALASKA succeeds, what does it matter in the light of eternity? One life in exchange for thousands of Alaskans who will hear the gospel and accept Jesus offer of salvation is cheap enough. Believe me! I hope it doesn’t come to this. But know that I’m prepared to pay the price, to do brinksmanship with the Enemy until God fully delivers on His promises. As Jesus cried out from the cross, “Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” Luke 22:42 Thus, I shall end my fast when, and only when the Lord has sent enough funds to purchase the land for the antenna. At last tally, $71,000 has been received or firmly pledged towards the $150,000 needed for the land. Half done is just begun. So my fast continues. But then, remember, after that milestone is reached, we’ll still urgently need money to buy the antenna and transmitting equipment valued at $105,000. This is not a game. This is high stakes spiritual brinkmanship. It’s serious spiritual warfare. I’m asking you to pray with me, and fast if you can. (Caution, not everyone can or should fast; check with your physician first). Then ACT now by making a sacrificial donation for MISSION ALASKA, and spread the word. I’m confident God will bring total victory very soon. August is at the door. The antenna installation is now perilously late. Equipment should have been ordered months ago and the antenna already erected. As it looks now, the antenna will go up in the snow, during the fall, which is already winter in Alaska. Work not done this summer will have to get done in painful cold. The absolute deadline to get on the air is end of this December. Failure is not an option. We are counting on God to stir hearts. God bless you for saying “yes” to Jesus. How to donate? See below. After creating the first US telegraph line from Baltimore to Washington, DC, Samuel Morse, the inventor of the Morse code tapped out the first message on his telegraph key on May 24, 1844. He quoted the Bible, Numbers 23:23. “What hath God wrought.” When this new RADIO 74 station in Alaska is finally heard on the air, speaking Truth in love, not you, I or anyone will ever be able take credit. All will say, “What hath God wrought!” All honor and glory to Him! What’s Needed PHASE 1: cost to build, including the land, $255,000. This will get the radio station on the air and FCC licensed with 5,000 watts of power. Deadline to have the station constructed and on the air: end of December, 2017. Funds donated so far: just over $71,000, leaves $184,000 to raise for PHASE 1. PHASE 2: will happen in 2018-19 when we install the taller towers and 50,000 watt transmitter, for an additional $250,000, including the buried grounding system. This is the permanent high power station, our final objective. No immediate legal deadline, but let’s not dally. Total cost to fully build out this strong 50,000 watt AM radio station: $505,000. • WI, 88.1 FM Starting This Weekend

WQWA, Columbus, WI, 88.1 FM Starting This Weekend What a joy to complete yet another new RADIO 74 INTERNATIONALE radio station! Though feeling a little weaker from fasting, I easily and safely climbed a no-longer-used 80 foot tall farm silo at Wisconsin Academy this afternoon, installed a single bay FM antenna, and ran the coaxial cable down the side into the barn where the transmitter is located. I then drove around the area to check the signal. It’s beautiful! This small 100 watt station is getting out with a clear signal up to 10 miles in most directions. Some 30,000 people live within range and will potentially be reached. Glory to God! On Sunday, I hope to climb the silo again and mount a microwave relay antenna used to receive audio (sound) from the “studio” on campus, so we can formally begin broadcasting. This project began over 15 years ago, but only recently has the FCC finally granted permission and the Lord sent funds to build it… a story of faith and determination to tell another day! The images above are from WQWA, Columbus, WI, 88.1 FM Antenna atop middle silo on old school farm.

  • but God...

Who hasn’t noticed? The world is bizarre and getting worse…fast! Good writers begin with an illustration to grab your attention. But I needn’t burden you. Media is full of them bombarding us with misery, scenes of terror, hate, immorality, and the grossest acts of sin in high and low places. Indeed, the shenanigans of media stars themselves are news stories. Evil is pervasive, almost unavoidable, and is taking its toll on the tranquility of our lives, our homes and our children. The world is broken. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men can’t put it together again, human kings that is. But God can. Oh how I love those two words “But God,” used over and again in Scripture to demonstrate God’s mighty power to intervene at the darkest hour. I often hear myself saying, “but I… followed by a human platitude or lame excuse. But I can do it myself… But I’m smarter… But it’s my life. Or on the negative side, But I’m worried… But I’m so tired… But I don’t know how… But that’s not my calling… But I’m broke… But I would have, if only… and on and on. You get the gist. Fact is, without Christ, I can do nothing. But I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. The Bible is loaded with “But God” statements. They jump out at you with encouragement: “You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to . . . save many people alive” Gen. 50:20. Day after day Saul searched for him, but God did not give David into his hands. 1 Samuel 23:14 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26 With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 1 Corinthians 1:27 But God raised him from the dead… Acts 2:24 But God will redeem my life from the grave; he will surely take me to himself. Psalm 49:15 But now the LORD my God has given me rest on every side, and there is no adversary or disaster. 1 Kings 5:4 But God demonstrates his own love for us… while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us… Ephesians 2:4 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 “For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Rom. 5:7-8. “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard . . . the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit” 1 Cor. 2:9-10. “My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” Ps. 73:26 But God is faithful who not allow us to be tempted more than we are able. 1 Corinthians 10:13 The world is going to get much worse before it gets better. But we cling to Jesus promise, “I will come again and receive you unto myself... John 14:3 “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Deuteronomy 31:6 When things go wrong, reach the worst or collapse … but God! When all hope is gone… but God! When the Enemy comes in like a flood… but God! God! First, best, last, always!
